Art Image of the Week: One of My Own

This a piece I did for the Magers Hall Paint Project. Since I live in Magers’ “Inferno House” I decided to enter in the running. Our Hall’s theme was “Dante’s Inferno” and we had to interpret it without being “too scary”. So this is what I arrived at: Charon, the ferryman to Hell.

Nice Piece of work here, and good use of the letters on the side of the boat. The simple lines of the backdrop and the side of the river get the point across of where the scene is, but doesn’t take away the attention from the main point of the drawing, which is the ferryman? The design of the boat is also fun with the dragon type skull on the front. Over all, bravo man!

This is really sweet! There is a good range of contrast with the ferryman and the background. I like your style of drawing and the techniques used in this. You did a good job with the shadows and highlights on the ferryman’s cloak.
